Observations

Thank you for a wonderful discussion over the summer. If you did not get to post something on the last book, please just get to it when you have a chance. This is an extremly busy time of the year and I know reading it may be a challenge.

Please let me know when you are starting writer's workshop and I would love to come in and see you in action. This is a great way for me to see where you are and how the children are responding. Chris is working on compiling a collection of mentor books for each grade level.

Thanks again and I am looking forward to next year.

Our First Post

Please use the following "4 A's" protocol to respond to the 2nd book:

  • What assumptions does the author hold?
  • What do you agree with in the text?
  • What do you want to argue against in the text?
  • What parts of the text do you want to aspire to?
Please connect your responses to the text and comment on each others observations.  Thank you for your thoughtful reading.

Starting

I hope your summer is going well.  Please let me know if you have any questions before the class starts.  I have learned a lot from the literacy institute for our writing workshop.  I think it will be fun for the fifth grade team to work together and try things to see if they work.

I am looking forward to it!
